Wohnzimmergespräche are conversations that dwell on and in the spaces we inhabit. Thinkers from different fields are invited to share their views on architecture as an affective practice. In conversing we rehearse new cultural realities, and in rehearsing we hope to create spaces of cultural revolution. Wohnzimmergespräche are beginnings without endings.
Collectively, we reflect on how architecture not only produces built form, but also constructs and reproduces values, social relations and worldviews. Because our work as architects inevitably affects the lives of others, we want to consider not only what architecture is, but also what architecture does. We learn to build practices that care about the places we interact with, the people we affect, the future generations—practices that require careful consideration and are not contained by an isolated discipline of form-making and space-producing.
